Another proud-of-my-family post
Here's a clip about Sierra Keeler, who with my uncle George shares a birthday with Natalie. Sierra is cousin Josh's daughter.

Here's the e-mail we got from Harper the other day:
This just in. I just learned that the highest campaign office (by elevation) for Obama is Alma, Colorado. At 10,578 feet, they are confident that they will carry the county for a Democrat, the first time since 1964.
Well, you might think Harper's e-mail relates to the current election but to my mind it really doesn't. It relates to a memory of crossing the Colorado high passes to get to Breckenridge back in the late sixties, early seventies. The four of us in the Malibu station wagon would hit the town of Alma and Mom would start singing that Tom Lehrer song, "Alma". Here is my e-mail back to Harper:
Alma, tell us...all modern women are jealous...
Then in her e-mail on this thread Mom chimes in:
. . . Which of your magical wands got you Gustav and Walter und Franz?
And then back to Harper:
He would work late at the Bauhaus and only come home now and then, You said, "Vat am I running? , a Chow House?" It's time to change partners again.
And finally Mike:
I'm writing 'Das Lied von der Erde', And she only wants to make love!
See, after Dad died, Mom would take us up to Breckenridge where her dad Ross had a condo and we had unlimited season passes. While we three kids skied with our lace-up old boots and cable bindings, Mom would take some much needed R&R time to hang out in the condo and read books and magazines or some such. What would you do if you were in your early 30s, recently widowed, with three kids?
Thank you Mom, for your resilience and your singing. The memories are good.
"One of the things I found astounding about him is how passionate he still is about the sport," said Winklevoss. "He has never wavered in his passion for the sport and for bringing the best out of his athletes. If anything, it seems like he's more into it. There's no complacency in the boathouse."
This is awesome. And so is this. Community Rowing has named the new boathouse after (cousin) Harry Parker!
In Mr. Rinaldi's art class in 1976, we studied Conceptual Art and read books like this. To try it out ourselves, we made an art project where we compiled all the statistics related to the high school yearbook. For example, "There are 44 pictures with people wearing glasses in them, and there are 197 pictures with less than 4 people in them...". Just facts related to the yearbook.
I've been thinking for awhile of showing you my bike ride to work, which I try to do once a week. I thought I could do a sort of conceptual art project where I take pictures every 10 minutes, and just see what happens. Never got around to it though, since I'm always in a hurry. So this Sunday morning I took my camera and made the trip. If you were seeing the real thing, a quarter of the images would be dark, since I leave at 6:45 before sunrise. But at least you can get a sense of the route.
There are all these other views I wanted to show you more, but I was constrained by my 10 minute rule.
